New Product Release: Arrma 1/5 Kraton 4×4 8s BLX

Following the teaser images posted on social media over the last few weeks, Arrma have announced their new 1/5 Kraton 4×4 BLX.

The truck builds from a foundation of 6061-T6 aluminum flanked by composite side pods. The center chassis braces are triangulated for increased strength and resistance to chassis flex.

Book-ending the chassis are thick molded composite shock towers that serve to locate the 20mm bore oil-filled, adjustable shocks. The front suspension features a pillow ball design while the rear is a standard h-arm setup with an adjustable camber link.

The Kraton 8s’ drivetrain is all-metal for increased durability, beginning with the Mod1 pinion and spur combo. Attached to that spur is the center differential which is filled with 1M cSt silicone fluid for even power distribution front to rear. Heavy duty center shafts transfer power to the front and rear diffs, which like the center are all metal units (internal and external gears, at least). The ring and pinion on each diff are extra tough Mod1.5 pitch and have a ratio of 3.25:1. These diffs are filled with 100k cSt fluid for an optimized balance of traction and steering. Connecting the diffs to the wheels are CVD’s front and rear.

A sliding aluminum motor mount is bolted to the motor with three screws to resist movement from the immense torque of the 1250kv 4985 size Spektrum motor. Controlling the power from the 8s battery source is a Firma 160a Smart ESC (with IC5 connector) that takes its orders from a DX2e Active 2.4gHz radio and SR6100AT AVC receiver. The use of the 6100AT receiver allows for multiple channels of telemetry data to be sent to the optional Spektrum Dashboard smartphone app to display information such as motor rpm, receiver and drive battery voltage or calculated speed. Using this feature requires the use of the Spektrum Bluetooth module, DX2e Active Smartphone mount and a compatible smartphone, each sold separately.

Steering duties are handled by a full 1/5 size SPMS905 metal gear servo that cranks out 528oz-in of torque. All of that torque is transferred into a direct mount servo saver utilizing a 15T plastic servo horn.

The new dBoots Copperhead 2 SB tires measure a massive 7.99″ tall and are mounted to new 4.88″ bead multi-spoke wheels. Those wheels are driven by new larger 24mmm hexes and are finished in a menacing gloss black. The included pre-painted and trimmed body is available in two finishes, green and orange, and includes an oversized black wing for extra downforce.
