Out of the box the Senton 4×4 MEGA is as tough as nails. Large hits are shrugged of on a regular basis. When out testing other vehicles we often take the Senton along in case we meet someone who asks to drive; I’ve had zero qualms about handing over the transmitter to this truck. knowing that even in the hands of a rank amateur this truck would return to me in one piece. That being said, there’s always room for improvement! Pro-Line recently introduced a line of Bash Armor pieces for the Arrma 4×4 line of vehicles, namely the 3s BLX (V3) versions including front and rear suspension arms, a complete chassis skid/wear plate set and replacement front and rear skids for said set. We chose to install the complete line of Bash Armor pieces to freshen up the look of the truck as well as give us an extra insurance policy when there’s a wide eyed six year old behind the wheel. Unfortunately bolting these arms onto a V1 Senton (or Granite) is not as simple as taking the parts out of the bag and bolting them onto the truck. The hinge pin mounts on the V1 are a different shape and have different spacing than the latest iterations of the truck. Both front and rear arms need to have their inner hinge pin mounting locations modified slightly. The following photo shos the front arms; notice how there’s only a few millimeters of interference between the arm and hinge pin mounts. Remove this material on each side of the arm until it fits without binding but does not have excess play.
A similar amount of trimming is needed on the rear arms as well. Take your time and only remove a small amount of material; slop and excess play is the enemy here. Once the inner hinge pin area is trimmed the arm is ready to install; the outer hinge pin does not need modified. Show below is the rear arm showing the spots of interference.
