TWIRC: This Week In RC, September 1-7

Thanks for tuning in again for TWIRC, we hope you are enjoying the last few days of summer while they last. The cooler weather is coming and that should make it a little easier to get out and enjoy our RC”s without melting into the Earth due to triple digit temperatures and near 100% humidity. With any luck we are hoping to hit the trails soon and will bring you some new content covering a few new projects as well as some brand new vehicles. Stay tuned for that but read on to see what’s new in the RC industry this week.

TEAM ASSOCIATED

New from Team Associated this week are a few new Factory Team parts for the DC10 drift car: a magnetic body mount set, aluminum steering blocks and aluminum hubs. Each piece is a direct fit for the DC10 and offer the usual level of fitment for a Factory Team part.

First up are the new magnetic body mounts, a set that removes the body posts and pins from the chassis instead replacing them with small circular magnets that keep the body firmly in place and retain the scale lines that drift bodies are known for. Each kit includes four chassis mounts, four magnets for the bodies and the installation hardware needed to install the kit.

Up next are the aluminum steering blocks and hubs for the DC10 chassis. The steering blocks have a reduced amount of material inside the wheel offering more tuning options thanks to the increased space that the new pieces offer. The hubs have thinner steering arms, creating a new tuning option of steering link height that obtained by swapping sides with the hubs to change said height. Laser etched arrows denote which way the hubs are being ran, either low or high.

JCONCEPTS

This week brings a quartet of new bodies for the Team Associated B84 that includes the S2, F2, P2 and S15, each of which include two wings; one for carpet and turf and one for dirt, each of which are 6.5″ wide. Each body has a slightly different look, making them stand out on the grid, while also each fitting the chassis like a glove. The S2 body is a low-drag, high-speed body that was originally popular with carpet and turf racers but quickly became a go-to choice for drivers who prefer a more aggressive handling profile on dirt as well.

Up next is the F2 which features a cab-forward design that adds steering without sacrificing forward bite. The angle of the windshield combined with the signature “v” pattern of the top profile make this body an iconic style in the JConcepts lineup. Like the S2 the F2 includes two 6.5″ wings for use on carpet/turf or dirt as well as window masks, overspray film and a full color JC decal sheet.

Dirt racers have loved the P2 body design since its debut in 2010. While the body has had a few tweaks to its design in the decade-and-a-half since its inception the body remains quite loyal to its original silhouette. This body can be competitive on low to high traction tracks and includes a dirt wing as well as a carpet/tiurf wing, should one decide to try using this body there. Like the first two bodies the P2 includes overspray film, window masks and a full color JC decal sheet.

Rounding out this foursome of new shells is the S15 body, one designed for smoother steering, a less twitchy feel and balanced traction. This body features a single side window unlike the rest of the lineup which all feature twin side windows, making this body stand out. If a smoother driving car is what you are looking for this body may be for you.
