Welcome back, one and all, to another week of TWIRC! This week saw fall finally arrive here in the hills of West Virginia, with temps falling into the low 70’s most days and leaves finally beginning to turn in patches along the mountain sides. It is truly the best part of the year for us here; a time when our valleys look like patchwork quilts, the air is cool and crisp and the days still last past 1900! The lead up to the Golden Quarter is definitely heating up within the RC industry as this week we saw new releases from Team Associated, JConcepts, Axial and Traxxas. Itbeen a busy week, let’s dive in and see what’s new!
TEAM ASSOCIATED
New this week from Team Associated is a new take on their six wheel Semi truck based on the RC10, this time in a true 6×6 Formula-style car. This car build off of a new blue anodized chassis tub housing three oil-filled differentials and a center-mounted shaft drive that efficiently transfers power to the front. Sealed ball bearings keep everything spinning smoothly and heavy duty drive shafts transfer power to the wheels reliably, even with high-powered brushless torque doings its best to break things. Blue anodized shock parts add a touch of style to this unique car and all six wheels have adjustable camber and toe thanks to the heavy-duty turnbuckles and rod ends included in the kit. New front and rear wings bookend the chassis while a new Formula-style body and drivers’ head provide ample real estate to create your own fantasy livery. Rolling stock consists of black nylon spoke wheels shod in treaded, high-grip racing tires that even include white sidewall lettering for an added touch of detail.

Also new this week from the Reedy side of TA is a magnetic power bank for use in the pits or anywhere on the go to keep your mobile device charged. This power bank is stuffed with 10,000mAh of capacity, recharging most modern smartphones two to three times before needing to be recharged itself. Charging the unit itself is as simple as plugging in a typical USB-C cable into the side of the power bank and charging of the device can be done wirelessly thanks to the magnetic back portion of the power bank or through a USB-C port on top (charging cable and power supply not included). Finally these power banks are available in black or white to match your personal taste.

On a personal note, I use the Beta Bionics iLet Bionic Pancreas and it charges wirelessly, meaning I will 100% be picking up one of these power banks to keep on hand for emergency use. Having a dead phone can be an inconvenience but a dead insulin pump can be life or death. For other pump users consider picking up a power bank that is compatible with your pump’s style of charging and keep it with you whenever away from home, it can be the difference between a great day out and a trip to the hospital.
JCONCEPTS
Jason and the team at JConcepts have been extra busy this week with new releases abound! Racers will be getting the spotlight this week with two new carpet tire compounds available in select tread patterns, new carpet specific React foam inserts, Fin titanium turnbuckles for the Team Associated T7/SC7, the B7.1/D, as well as the Mugen MBX-8, plus a new set of 13mm shock pistons designed by the man himself, the late, great Brian Kinwald.
Up first are the new tire compounds for carpet racers that now include the Brown (medium-soft) and Purple (soft) compounds. Tires such as the 3DP, Pin Swag and Fuzz Bite LP will now be available in both new compounds while the Nessi will be made available in the new Purple as well as the original Pink compounds.
*Since there are so many unique part numbers for both front and rear options check JConcepts.net for item specifics. Tires ending in -011 denote the Purple compound while -012 signifies the Brown compound.
For drivers of the 7th gen Team Associated vehicles JConcepts has new fin turnbuckles to suit the B7.1/D, T7 and its short course brother the SC7.
The B7.1 kit includes six Fin style turnbuckles, each machined from titanium for strength and lightweight, and anodized in either blue or black for a touch of added style. This kit includes six 3.5mmx48mm turnbuckles to outfit the car both front and rear.

Similar in appearance are the T7/SC7 Fin titanium turnbvuckles which will also fit the T6.4 and SC6.4, each measuring 3.5mm in diameter and anodized in either blue or stealth black.

Rounding out this weeks trio of titanium turnbuckles is a set of the Mugen MBX-8 which start out as 5mm square chunks of titanium that are then machined to fit the stock rod ends included in the kit. These beefy unity are available in both black and blue and include five turnbuckles to suit both camber and steering links.

Up next JConcepts has new React open cell foam inserts for many carpet tires to further help tune the level of traction to the track surface. While the rear carpet tires from JC arrive with soft inserts, these new medium inserts can be effective when the track surface is at its highest level of grip. Each insert arrives in a new grey color to denote its shore and differentiate it from the standard soft inserts and their slightly lower profile also allows for a slight air gap between the wheel and the tire’s carcass.

Last but not least from JConcepts is the new 13mm BK Design Shock Pistons. Designed by Brian Kinwald himself in the early days of mid-motor off-road road racing when grip was difficult to come by, this design was originally done using specialized tools built specifically for BK himself and the first prototypes were little more than a late night bench “A-ha!” moment. As time marched forward traction became more abundant and the need for such a product was lessened, hence the lengthy delay in the the announcement of this revolutionary product. Now with outdoor off-road making a resurgence traction is again at a minimum making these new pistons a great tuning option. The machined delrin pistons are machined to much tighter tolerances, minimizing blow-by and therefore increasing consistency and overall grip while the machined channels direct oil to the precise holes for proper damping while also increasing oil capacity slightly. JConcepts offers these pistons in both two and three hole options with hole sizes ranging from 1.5mm to 2mm for the two hole pistons and 1.3mm to 1.7mm for the three hole pistons.

*Part numbers will vary with options. Please see https://blog.jconcepts.net/2026/09/jconcepts-new-release-13mm-shock-pistons- bk-design-2/ for item numbers and more information.
AXIAL
Axial is taking us for a trip down memory lane with the release of the new SCX10iii Jeep Cherokee XJ. Topped by an officially licensed Jeep body painted in the same Forrest Green Pearl or Stone White colors as the 1:1 these bodies are adorned with detail that makes them stand out among the sea of other crawlers on the market. An officially licensed Warn EVO10 (non-functional) winch sits atop a DirtBound front bumper and includes a Factor 55 machined aluminum hawse fairlead for a great looking front end. Keeping with the officially licensed trend the SCX10iii is shod in KMC KM444 Mesa wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires. LED lights front and rear light up the trail at night as well as making the truck easier to see at distance. Under the body is the familiar steel C-channel frame, the LCX-U dig transmission, AR45 straight axles, Spektrum electronics, 5mm stainless steel suspension links with stainless steel pivot balls, aluminum body dampers with single rate springs plus a shorty compatible battery tray.

TRAXXAS
While not necessarily new, Traxxas is celebrating its 40th anniversary with limited edition paint schemes on select models throughout the coming year beginning with their DCB-M41 Widebody boat and the MAXX monster truck. Keep an eye out for upcoming releases that will add to the lineup over then next 10 months or so.

THOUGHTS FROM THE WORKBENCH
Radiolink reached out this week with an answer to our R4FGM issue and it is that there is a problem with the board on the signal side of channel two. They sent out two new R4’s which work perfectly and I sent the two damaged units back to them for further testing. It appears that this was just a fluke with those particular receivers as all of our other units are still working perfectly.
As the temps continue to drop it is finally time to do some shop cleaning and organizing. Once the shop here at site B is back up and running we’ll be announcing a slew of new projects that we’ve been working on in the background over the last few sweltering months.
We thank you again for joining us to get your weekly RC news fix; your continued patronage is truly what keeps us motivated week after week. Until next time, be good to yourself, be good to each other, be good to your RC.
