TWIRC: This Week In RC, September 29-October 5

Welcome back. one and all, to another week of the best in RC! This week saw one lonely release from Team Associated, the RC28F, but fear not: things are definitely heating up in the background here at 1i-rc! Let’s dive in and see what’s new.

TEAM ASSOCIATED

New this week from Team Associated is the RC28F, a micro sized formula racer based on the pan car style platform of the RC28. This car builds off of a machined aluminum chassis and center bulkhead, giving the car a solid foundation and lowering the center of gravity, while new plastic wings bookend the chassis for downforce and a bit of protection. Plastic from arms are fixed but optional caster and camber options are included in the kit for tuning’s sake. Changing those front upper arms is a snap thanks to the quick-change design of the front bulkhead. Out back the car makes use of a sealed gear differential, although the car can accept optional aftermarket differentials currently available for the RC28 sedan. The rear pod is sprung by a center shock flanked by side torsion springs (options for soft, medium and still are included in the kit). Adjustable pod roll center inserts are included to further tune the car’s traction profile while a carbon composite axle reduces rotating mass and increases snap out of corners. A polycarbonate Formula One style body with driver figure is included and the aforementioned wings are molded plastic pieces that offer increased durability as well as downforce. New V2 white wheels are included with the kit which accept optional front wheel flanges to tune steering feel.

THOUGHTS FROM THE WORKBENCH

This week was a slower week for me here at Site B. I am still cleaning up the work area and am excited to get back to work at a proper bench again. As of writing this I have two Class 3 builds, two proper scale trail trucks and five Class 2 builds to finish and present; each are in a state of near-completion and need to be tested and photographed. I don’t have access currently to the photo location that I used previously and am currently in the process of finding a new scenic locale to use moving forward. Stay tuned for a winter of new crawler goodness!

We thank you again for your continued patronage of our site; loyal readers like you are what keep us going week after week. Until next time, be good to yourself, be good to each other, be good to your RC.
