Alas there is a simpler way! The Tekno 12mm hexes work but the smaller drive pin does introduce some slop into the equation. I’ve ran them for some time now without any issues but have always been looking for a better solution. Recently I stumbled across a part from Duratrax that is exactly what I was looking for. The hexes are marketed for the Granite and that made them a little harder to find as searching for Senton parts didn’t come up with anything. Being aluminum they should hold up better than the Tekno plastic hexes, especially for the BLX version or trucks upgraded to brushless, and they snugly fit the larger pin reducing slop. Installation is as simple as you would expect and they allow the wheel nut to be tightened without causing any binding. I replaced the stock wheel nuts with some fresh flanged and serrated M4 locknuts as the stockers were starting to loosen up after years of faithful service. To round out the upgrade I swapped out the stock dBoots tires for a set of Pro-Line BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2’s mounted on Renegade wheels (in a Slash 4×4 offset).
