JConcepts have released a host of new premounted tires and wheels for the Losi Mini T and Mini B that includes the Scorpios, Ellipses, Swaggers and Twin Pins, each available conveniently pre-glued to either white or yellow dish wheels.
Beginning with the Scorpios, a tire designed for varied off-road terrain, JConcepts have engineered numerous small details into the tread to ensure that the tire works in a multitude of situations. The close knit tread blocks have small slits that can open up to provide debris an escape path rather than clogging and becoming slicks. Unlike race oriented tires the Scorpios have a tall profile that keeps the truck (or buggy) upright during fast off-road excursions and specifically designed shoulder blocks not only provide lateral grip but also reinforce the sidewall for a more consistent feel. Open cell foam inserts retain the tire’s shape despite the sidewall’s super soft green compound while also providing enough deformation to conform to the terrain. The Scorpios are designed for use front or rear on the Mini T or rear of the Mini B.
Up next are the race oriented Ellipse, which gained their moniker from the design of the center bar of the tread, now being available in both front and rear widths and your choice of bright white or fluorescent yellow dish wheels. This tire was designed for high grip, smooth indoor or outdoor surfaces and is molded in the super soft green compound while the sidewalls are supported by open cell foam inserts. The Ellipse rear can be used on the Mini T front or rear and the Mini B rear; the fronts are for the Mini B only.
The new tread on the block, the Twin Pin, was designed to work well on carpet or astroturf over the course of a longer race with their “mountain silhouette” tread design and additional pin height. The outer tread was designed to strike a balance between too much pin that would lead to traction rolling and too little pin causing a loss of lateral traction. Unlike the Ellipse, the Twin Pin is a rear tire only for both the Mini B and Mini T and can be paired with the Swaggers for optimal balance. JConcepts have developed a carpet specific pink compound for the Twin Pin and Swaggers that offers excellent traction that is consistent from the opening bell to the closing buzzer.
Rounding out the quartet of high performance rubber are the Swaggers, a tire designed to provide good steering balance on high grip surfaces without becoming undriveable to anyone short of a pro-level driver. Offset, multiple height, angular ribs offer directional stability while the carefully shaped carcass keeps rolling speeds high. Like the aforementioned tires the Swaggers are supported by open cell foam inserts and are available pre-mounted to either white or yellow hoops. Like the Twin Pins the Swaggers are molded in the carpet and astroturf friendly pink compound.
