JConcepts is bringing their popular Choppers and Magma tread patterns to the world of high-performance 1/8 bashers with these two pre-mounted offerings. The tires and wheels are only compatible with each other as the Shuttle wheel is designed in such a way that the beadlock hardware passes through the bead of the tire and threads into the wheel instead of merely pinching the bead between an outer ring and the inner bead.
The elder statesman of the pair are the Choppers; a gnarly, tall lug off-road design that features doubled up center treads for a “paddle-esque” level of forward bite. Outer tread blocks are rounded to smoothly blend into the cross pattern sidewall tread to minimize traction rolling while offering the utmost lateral grip possible. Each tread block is hollow at the tip to allow it to conform to terrain while still being supported at the base to minimize “squirming” or a twitchy feeling under hard acceleration or braking. Supporting the tires are soft, open cell foam inserts and are molded in a grippy medium compound.
Equally aggressive but truly their own, the Magma makes use of horizontal, bridge shaped tread blocks with diagonal relief sipes for terrain conformity mixed with a sidewall tread that smoothly blends into the carcass, reducing traction rolling; no small feat considering the size and shape of the first upright tread block on the shoulder. Like the Choppers the Magma is molded in a grippy-yet-long-wearing medium compound and is supported by soft open-cell foam inserts.
