New Product Release: Team Associated RC10B7 and RC10B7D Team Kits

When asked what the Formula One of off-road RC would be most would answer 2wd 1/10 buggies. They are light, nimble and often times, the fastest cars on the property. Team Associated has been at the forefront of innovation in the class since the original RC10 and has pushed the envelope with each iteration that followed. That being said the latest contender from the minds at Area 51 (Team Associated’s R&D lab) present the RC10B7 and B7D (dirt edition) mid-motor Team Kits.

The new 7075-T6 aluminum chassis has an increased departure angle for reduced hangups on jump landings, especially when landing on-power with the throttle on. Machined into the chassis are pockets for optional tuning weights to adjust the chassis’ balance and to ensure the ultra-light car can make class minimum weight requirements. Further weight bias tuning can be accomplished thanks to the highly adjustable battery box and its thumb tabs.

A new, 5-gear laydown transmission with a low profile motor mount keeps weight close to the chassis center line. Inside the new transmission reside a high-capacity sealed gear differential (B7 only) that helps maintain differential consistency throughout the run as well as between one run and the next. HD outdrives and 69mm CVA bones transfer power to the rear wheels through machined 12mm hexes. Standard an high roll center (HRC) rear hubs are included in the box to tune transitional handling. Finishing out the rear end is a one-piece wing mount that adds durability as well as transferring more downforce into the chassis from the included 7 inch wide rear wing. Complimenting the new wing is an ultra-low-profile cab-forward body that balances air pressure over the entire chassis while also sitting at, or below, the tops of the tires.

Up front the B7 and B7D feature KPI (King Pin Inclination) adjustable steering and caster blocks that help fine tune steering fell; three options are included in each kit. New 6.5mm aluminum front axles maximize traction when using slim front wheels and low-profile tires. According to Team Associated, “(the) vertical front outer ball studs allow fine tuning of roll-center, camber gain and link length.” Easy access anti-roll bars find their home both front and rear, further expanding tuning options.

Differences separating the B7D and the B7 include an adjustable ball differential, softer shock springs and lower pack shock pistons. All other tuning options and optional parts are interchangeable between the two kits as well, reducing the amount of parts needed to race on any type of surface.
