Team Associated’s business partnership with Yokomo dates back to 1972 but was made famous by drivers such as Cliff Lett, Masami Hirosaka, Jay Halsey and Butch Kloeber during the 1989 IFMAR Worlds in Australia. Each driver piloted a Yokomo YZ-10 in the 4wd class and an Associated RC10 in 2wd and were at the top of the leaderboards in both classes. It was clear to the competition that if you weren’t running one of these cars you weren’t winning. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of this pivotal moment in RC racing Associated is releasing a limited number of these “Classic” YZ-10 kits.
Under the classic body lies an equally old-school chassis with its NiCD battery holders in a saddle pack configuration, 2mm wide fine pitch drive belts, polycarbonate chassis protectors, floating servo mount, fluid filled gear differential front and rear, aluminum threaded body dampers and the oh-so-cool pin spike tires.
