As we race forward into this year the RC industry is heating up for a blistering spring and summer season with releases from Team Associated, Team Losi Racing, Pro-Line Racing, Exotek and Reedy, along with our own review of the Traxxas ProGraphix line of spray paints. Spring is right around the corner; lets take a look at what is going to be filling our wish lists and emptying our wallets in the coming months!
TEAM ASSOCIATED
Touted as the “Next Big Thing” from TA this car was at first rumored to be a 1/8 RC10 tribute or even an MGT Re-Re in RC10 colors but finally Associated pulled the sheet off of the new car and we got to see that it was, in fact, a 1/24 RC10. The RC10 Model 24 Classic is a scaled down replica of the original, featuring the same gold pan chassis layout, white plastics, vintage rolling stock, a 3-gear Stealth-style transmission with gear diff and slipper clutch, oil-filled aluminum body shocks and a classic style body to top off the whole package. Everything about this car is vintage RC10 and its attention to detail is impressive; there’s even a driver figure included! The box art livery is easily recreated thanks to the included decal set and thanks to the 1/24 size the proportions are true to the original. Thankfully this is a kit and does not include electronics, however this car is compatible with Reedy’s line of electronics for the TA RC28R, each of while are featured in their own story below.

TEAM LOSI RACING
I’ve never ran 1/10 4wd buggies competitively but I do appreciate the nuance and engineering that goes into packaging these vehicles and making them work at their peak level of performance. Team Losi Racing (TLR) unveiled their latest race chassis, the 22X-4 in two flavors, DC (dirt/clay) and AC (astroturf/carpet), generating a buzz within the racing community and prompting many racers to give the 4wd class a second look. While the car isn’t entirely new, the changes are significant enough to warrant a new generation of car and include new gearboxes with adjustable diff heights, larger 13mm bore threaded body aluminum shocks, larger volume gear differentials that offer greater consistency during the run, a new Pro-Line Sector body and Air Force 7″ wing as well as new center driveline dogbones. If you have the itch to add a second (or third, or fourth…) class to your racing stable, giving 1/10 4wd buggies a try might be right up your alley with this new, highly adjustable and highly capable platform!

Like the DC, the AC utilizes gear differentials front and rear but also adds a decoupled slipper assembly that allows for front/rear brake bias adjustments, front and rear swaybars, new carbon steering arms that allow for more steering throw and a new extended 2.0mm aluminum chassis for added stability. The same Pro-Line Sector body and Air Force wing are included in the package and the car uses industry standard offset 12mm hex wheels.

PRO-LINE RACING
First up from PL this month is the Sector body for the all-new TLR 22X–4 2.0, sold here as a replacement for the included stock body. The Sector body style is an evolutionary step forward in RC aerodynamic technology and balances downforce evenly between the axles, giving a more planted feel without introducing push or a twitchy feeling. Included in the package are window masks, a detailed decal sheet and Paint-Then-Peel overspray film, making painting a pain-free process.

Up next is a limited edition body shell for the Losi NASCAR chassis, this time in the Chase Elliott Napa DIY livery. This clear body replicates the 2025 Atlanta scheme that was designed by a patient from the Children’s Healthcare Network of Atlanta and was Elliott’s first win of the season. Included are the pre-cut body, molded spoiler with mounting hardware and the officially licensed NASCAR decal sheet, along with Paint-Then-Peel overspray film. This is a single production run item and will be limited in quantity as such.

Rounding out this months releases are a quintet of products for the recently released Arrma Mini Kraton that includes new PowerStroke front and rear shocks, Menace street tires and Brute bodies in both clear and black.
The PowerStroke dampers are identical in fitment to the stock units but feature threaded aluminum bodies and 3mm shafts for added durability, as well as three rates of springs for out-of-the-package tuning options. These dampers are emulsion style with bleeder screws for consistent performance and come in packs of 2 for front or rear (each pair sold separately).

If you do your Mini bashing on the street the new Menace tires from Pro-Line have you covered. Conveniently mounted on Split Six wheels and available in pairs these asymmetric tires will give a massive boost in both straight line and cornering traction.

Finally if you’d like to add a touch of style to your Mini Kraton or if its stock body is showing signs of wear Pro-Line has you covered (literally) with their Brute body style in either black or clear. This tough looking shell was designed alongside the MK itself and fits like a glove, utilizing the stock clipless body mounts and offering pre-cut convenience. For the clear version, window masks are included, however both versions include detail decals to finish out the look,

EXOTEK
If you are a fan of the classic RC10 variants (and we all are!) Exotek has a new set of titanium nose tubes to both lighten and strengthen the front of your RC10, or any special edition thereof while also adding a bit of style at the same time. These featherweight units are machined to accept the stock 4-40 hardware and are coated in a glossy black for a stealth look (pun very much intended…).

PROJECT UPDATES
I’ve been working quite a bit behind the scenes on a few new projects this year which will be coming out over the next few months. Shipping has been a nightmare recently with every single package getting either lost or redirected to other states instead of to the local depot when it comes into our main hub. FedEx has been the worst offender recently with 100% of my orders being late due to shipping errors. Dealing with their customer supprt is nearly futile as they have less information than is available to the end user and simple tell the customer to continue to wait and it will arrive when it arrives. This is especially frustrating when I’ve paid extra for expedited shipping or signature required and things show up later than the estimated date of the free option. This has put most of my projects and reviews on hold recently but as soon as things are done and photographed I’ll be posting the entire build and reveal at once.
New this week on the site is a review of the Traxxas ProGraphix paint, a budget friendly option for those who love painting new RC bodies just for the fun of it. Compared to other brands these Traxxas paints are considerable cheaper per ounce and produce fairly good results; great results if you are using them as a backing color for other paints. I did experience a few issues but nothing so bad that I’m not comfortable recommending these paints to everyone. Give the article a look and see if these paints are right for your; link Here.
That will do it for this week’s edition of TWIRC. We thank you for choosing 1i-rc for your weekly RC fix and your continued patronage does not go unnoticed. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post them using the form provided; we read every comment and try to respond as quickly as possible. Until next time, be good to yourself, be good to each other, be good to your RC.
