Before we get started this week I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. Know that I am personally thankful for each and every reader that takes time out of their busy schedule to stop by and peruse our site; your patronage does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. After the tryptophan induced haze wore off I was able to drag myself back to the keyboard to see what was new for the week and the RC industry did not disappoint! While we only have products from two companies this week those products are definitely cool enough to find their way to the top of everyone’s list to Santa! Let’s dive in and see what’s new.
TEAM ASSOCIATED
It has become a meme within the industry as of late: another week, another retro RC10 release. While this is usually the case. I for one am loving the flood of RC10 re-releases as that was what was popular when I first got into RC and the nostalgia hits me hard every time. This week’s new hotness is technically not a re-re but rather a new take on an old platform: introducing the RC10T 4×4. This belt drive, 4wd stadium racer is outfitted with just enough retro “cool” to qualify for a vintage race while also being just far enough outside of the rule book to not fit into the vintage stadium truck class. New to this platform are 4wd truck specific shock towers, front knuckles and caster blocks, chassis stiffeners, vintage pin-style 4wd truck tires and gold thumb nuts. This truck is packed with adjustable ball differentials front and rear, gold nose and motor plates, long suspension arm geometry, front and rear stealth transmissions, revised front pulley and red front shock springs, new servo mount and belt guide system and Team Associated even includes one-piece wheels and an RC10T body in the package.

JCONCEPTS
JConcepts is at it again with a slew of eye-catching new releases, just in time for the Christmas season! Included in this weeks drop are pre-mounted Smoothies 2’s and Subcultures for the Arrma Mojave Grom, pre-mounted Smoothies 2’s and Dirt Trac’s for the Losi NASCAR chassis, pre-mounted Magma and Choppers tires for the Arrma Typhon Grom, Magma and Choppers pre-mounts for the Mini MAXX and Mini XRT and a new 1950 Ford F-100 Grandpa body for 12.3″ wheelbase scale crawlers.
First up we have new Smoothies 2 and Subcult-ures tires for the Arrma Mojave and Typhon Grom. The Smoothies 2 is a slick tire designed for optimum traction on wet clay surfaces and features a carefully designed carcass that decreases rolling resistance. This tire is molded in the G3 clay compound and is supported by open-cell foam inserts. Each tire is conveniently pre-glued to the attractive black, multi-spoke wheels. Fitments for both the Typhon (#4199-3053912) and Mojave (4189-305394) are available.

If the dirt is where your Mojave Grom spends its time, JConcepts has you covered there also. Racers have found success with the Subcultures tires for quite some time as it is a tire that not only finds traction in a multitude of conditions but also has a longer lifespan than its competitors thanks to its pyramid-pin shape design. These mini-sized tires are offered pre-mounted and molded in the Yellow (medium) compound and are supported by open-cell foam inserts.

If gnarlier conditions are where your mini suffers its life look no further than the Choppers tire from JConcepts. This widely spaced, square block tire self-cleans with the best of them and can also find grip on most any surface (I have a set in use on a 2wd Stampede and they are among the best all-around tires I’ve used on this truck). The Yellow (medium) compound supports the tall knobs without sacrificing overall traction and the soft, open-cell foam inserts allow the tire to conform to uneven terrain, further enhancing its traction profile.

If you are a fan of the Losi NASCAR race cars and are looking to take your race program to a new level, JConcepts has covered with their new Smoothies 2 and Dirt Trac pre-mounted tires. The Smoothies 2 can be used on concrete, asphalt or clay surfaces and is molded in the G3 (soft) compound. Supported by soft, open-cell foam inserts these tires offer low rolling resistance and high lateral grip, all in a package that looks very close to the current Gen 7 Goodyear Eagle used in the Cup Series.

If clay or dirt oval racing is your forte, JC has just the tire for your with their new Dirt Trac tire. Conveniently sold pre-mounted, these tires are a quick way to go from bag to running the cushion in just a few minutes. Molded in the soft G3 compound these tires are grooved for optimal side bite as well as forward traction. Inside each tire is an open cell foam insert that works in conjunction with the sliced tread blocks to conform to the track surface and find grip even on slick or dusty tracks.

Up next are two new sets of off-road meats for the Arrma Typhon Grom as well as versions for the Traxxas Mini MAXX and Mini XRT. The Magma and Choppers are purpose-built for the mixed-bag terrain of a backyard bash-a-palooza. The Magma features a trio of center bars flanked by offset shoulder knobs, giving a mix of forward and lateral grip that offers the right mix of slide and traction. The Choppers features large square knobs with hollow centers that dig into loose soil and conforms to uneven terrain thanks to the included open-cell foam inserts. No matter the off-road environment JConcepts has the tire for you!

Finally there’s a new option for the scale crowd with the 1950 Ford F-100 Grandpa. This body mixes classic good looks with performance oriented styling tweaks that help to reduce hangups on the rocks without detracting from the beauty that is the ol’ Ford. The rear fends have been pushed back to shorten the rear overhang while the fronts are moved forward slightly to achieve the same result. The iconic grille and headlight treatment make a bold statement and lend the truck its signature face. Included in the package are full-color photorealistic decals, window masks and overspray film, making the painting and detailing process a snap. This body is sized to fit rigs with a 12.3″ wheelbase, however with the size and shape of the fenders there is less wiggle room than other shells on the market.
