It seems like Mother Nature didn’t get the memo and brought summer back in a big way here in southern West Virginia. We’ve had a few days in the mid-80’s this past week and the humidity made it feel even warmer with air so thick you could almost chew it. Fortunately we are seeing some color change in the leaves but nowhere near the level that is usually present this late in the year. I can’t complain though, I still live in the most beautiful location on this planet and that’s a pretty awesome sight to wake up to every day. This week’s RC releases are fairly thin in number with only two new products hitting out inbox. Team Associated released another RC10 4×4 variant while JConcepts introduced a new truggy tire. Let’s dive in and see what’s new!

Given that they list two different body shell (the original RC10 4×4 shell with driver figure as well as the Protech body with RC10GB engine cutout markings; a nice touch if you ask me. This car is for the niche vintage aficionado who isn’t afraid to risk their car doing what it was designed to do. I’m sure many of the Vintage RC10’s will end up as shelf queens but this is one that is ready to be ran and ran hard if need be.

JCONCEPTS
New from the team at JConcepts is the 1/8 truck tire dubbed the Kosmos; a rectangular block tread tire that alternates tread location on each row to stagger the face of the tread block, maximizing traction. Even JC themselves admit that this tire is puzzling to look at with its alternating, closely spaced blocks that look like the world’s strangest 2d barcode. This tire should last quite a while, a good trait on these big truggies who can chew through a set of tires in one run depending on compound. The Kosmos is available in blue and green compounds and each tire is fitted with Dirt Tech firm closed cell foam inserts.

PROJECT UPDATES
I spent another frustrating week fighting with our Anycubic Kobra 2 Pro with no success. I can print successfully for around 13 minutes at which time it clogs and begins to print nothing but air. I’ve replaced the entire print head 3 times now with no change. I tried increasing the retraction distance from 1.5mm (which is what the slicing software set it at) to 5mm, which is the lower end of what other sources recommend. This made no change in clogging either. I have to clear the nozzle after every print and also level and clean the bed but not being able to print for more than 13 minutes is extremely frustrating. I reached out to Anycubic and 12 days later they replied to tell me that my warranty was now expired. It was within the warranty period when I reached out but that doesn’t matter now. This is hands down unacceptable customer service if you ask me. I have replaced the wiring harness, the print head (3 times), nozzles (too many to count) and even a new build plate, all with no change in print quality or print success. If you have any recommendations please feel free to drop a comment below, any help is greatly appreciated.
I’ve spent a few hours this week assembling a few new projects that, once finished, will be receiving their own feaure so please keep your eyes peeled for those debuts soon.
The rest of my week was spent working on my and my girlfriend’s Nissan Pathfinder. It has had an idle issue for a few months since changing the alternator and voltage regulator. It will not idle unless you stab the throttle a few times on startup. We’ve changed plug, coils, VVT solenoids, cam sensors, crank sensor and the intake/filter assembly. It has also had an oil change, where we did not find any metal in the oil or filter and also did not find fuel in the oil, pointing to good ring seal in the combustion chamber. I cleaned the MAF and throttle body and did the relearn procedure with no success. I am leaning toward a vacuum leak as being the culprit but it could also be an ECu at the most extreme end. Once under throttle the car runs great but that idle…
Thank you again for joining us for TWIRC, readers like you are the reason we do this weekly and the fact that you spend your valuable time with us is not lost on us one bit. Until next week be good to yourself, be good to each other, be good to your RC.
