Hobbywing has announced the release of their new flagship ESC, the XR8 Pro. Capable of running in sensored mode at all times when paired with one of Hobbywing’s new G3 series motors, the new controller provides an extremely delicate throttle feel. The XR8 Pro is capable of 200a of continuous current and has a burst current rating of 1080a. Hobbywing has designed a new communication protocol that is faster to change parameters and upgrade firmware. The ESC has 29 different parameters of adjustability, far surpassing the model it replaces. Timing advance, or “turbo” function, is adjustable up to 48 degrees advanced for an increase of up to 50% in power. Numerous safety systems are built into the hardware including reverse polarity protection, thermal overheat protection as well an an IP5X protection grade that virtually eliminates dust intrusion. BEC voltage is adjustable from 6v to 8.4v while current is rated at 6a continuous and up to 15a under severe load.
