New Product Release: Redcat Racing Gen9 International Scout 800a 1/10 RTR

Redcat Racing’s latest release is the next evolution of the Gen platform and includes a slew of revisions that add up to make this the most capable trail truck in Redcat’s lineup.

At the top of that list of updates is a new 2-speed forward mounted transmission and shift servo, offering forward mounted weight bias and shift-on-the-fly convenience. Inside the transmission, transfer case and portal boxes lie MOD1 steel gears for added durability and near maintenance free running. The divorced transfer case is mounted to a revised center skid plate that eliminates the “belly bump” of the GEN8 in favor of a smooth bottom, eliminating hang-ups. Finally, a dual-pad design slipper clutch dampens power delivery and helps protect the 32p plastic spur gear from sudden shocks.

Newly updated portal axles are found front and rear and are stuffed with CNC machined spools, high-angle universal axles and ball bearings throughout. Captured shock mounts help eliminate a weak point of the GEN8 while the metal axle covers add a touch of style and ruggedness. Inside the portal boxes are new gears with greater reduction for more torque at the wheels and less torque twist within the chassis.

Aesthetically the GEN9 goes back a generation from the Scout ii to the 800a, this time in a topless version with a near-full-depth interior and added roll cage detail. Two color options will be offered at time of launch including the blue pictured above and a graphite grey. The body itself attaches using a secure clipless mounting system that is hinged toward the rear for simple battery changes and easy removal. Many parts of the body are LED ready including the gauge cluster, headlights, taillights and even the molded inner fenders that are ready to accept rock lights. True beadlock 1.9″ wheels are included in the package and are wrapped in Interco SS M16 rubber.

Powering the GEN9 is a 40a waterproof 2s/3s ESC that is paired with a 550 sized brushed motor. A high-torque metal gear HexFly servo is found up front that now features an aluminum center case for added strength and heat dissipation. A metal servo horn ensures all of the 25kg/cm of torque from the servo makes it to the axle. Inside the less-than-sealed receiver box is a waterproof 4-channel receiver that is commanded by a new 4-channel pistol grip 2.4gHz radio system.
