Another record setting week of heat is in the books and this week has definitely been a slow one for RC news. The only relevant news for our corner of the hobby is from Team Associated with their release of the Stealth transmission kit for their vintage lineup. Join us in the shade to see what this kit is all about!
TEAM ASSOCIATED
Owners of the original RC10 gold pan buggy or its many variants as well as drivers who have picked up the re-releases to enjoy a bit of nostalgia now have an option to upgrade their ride with an all-inclusive Stealth transmission kit, directly from Team Associated. Included in the kit are the classic appearing white nylon transmission housing halves, ball bearings, an adjustable ball differential as well as a new top shaft that accepts the modern Octalock spur and slipper assembly making spur gear changes a quick and easy affair with readily available off-the-shelf parts. Like all of the re-releases this transmission kit is top=shelf quality but also comes at a top-shelf price.

PROJECT UPDATES
This week was another week of waiting for parts to arrive. The sand rail got a bit of a wiring clean-up and only needs to have one more harness bundled and shortened to its final length before I can take the car out for a shakedown run. The Class 2 Fun Rig is essentially done and waiting for its day on the rocks but things have been so hectic in my day to day life that I haven’t been able to carve out enough time to find some terrain suitable for this highly capable rig. I did manage to install the RPM Pink front and rear arms onto my Traxxas Mudboss for a pop of color and to see the difference between the RPM pieces and the stock Traxxas Heavy Duty parts. I discovered that the front arms have a slight interference between the HD caster blocks (which wrap around the front of the arm unlike the design of the older pieces) and the arm. This interference causes the arm to be pulled upward; almost as if there’s a secondary spring acting on the arm in the opposite direction of the shock. I have reached out to RPM regarding this issue and will update everyone here once I have heard back.
On a personal note, I started insulin pump therapy this week to treat my Type 1 diabetes. In my 31 year battle with the disease I have used insulin pumps to help control my diabetes but have been using injections for the past 15 years or so. I recently contacted a company that makes tubeless insulin pumps that look and function much like a CGM (continuous glucose monitor), of which I also use. It’s a learning curve but I am hopeful that with some patience and continual adjustments to the delivery rates I can get my A1C back under 7 and start feeling like my old self again.
Thank you each and every one for spending your valuable time with us here at 1i-rc.com. It means the world to us that you have chosen to get your RC news from us. Until next time, be good to yourself, be good to others, be good to your RC.
