This week has been a slow one here in the 1i-RC offices. No new releases, no major industry news and thankfully no friends to write “In Memoriam” about. This week did see the arrival of Christmas and hopefully your tree was surrounded by equal amounts loved ones and RC goodies. Personally my entire family Christmas was RC related, including a new kit (review coming soon) and some awesome scores from the Fall clearance sale at Horizon (I recognized everything in that box as being from HH despite being wrapped in a different box). I am a very luck man that I get to spend the holiday surrounded by family and friends as well as boxes of new RC gear.
I’d like to take a moment to share my feeling about the holiday if I could. I’ll keep this contained to this paragraph; if this isn’t your cup of tea or you are of a different faith I understand if you want to skip this one. I grew up in a Christian household and thought I understood the true meaning of Christmas. It was all about Santa Claus, candy canes and Grandma’s holdiay punch that had enough sugar to supply a small country until the next millennium. Now that I am older and more affirmed in my faith I have put those childhood notions out of my mind and celebrate Christmas for what it is: a celebration of the birth of the single most important person in human history. Granted I personally do not believe Jesus was born on December 25th. The scripture does not match that particular time of year; the same goes for Easter. These two holidays were celebrated on traditional Pagan holiday dates. Doing this made the conversion from non-believer to Christian much easier and more convenient. Regardless of historical accuracy I still believe that Christmas is, first and foremost, a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus, to better understand his teachings from his time on Earth and to appreciate what his crucifixion means for us, his followers, in the next life. Our sins are paid for by his blood. God gave us free will and Jesus is covering the tab, how could anyone not want to find themselves in a pew Christmas morning to hear more about this amazing man? I understand that I fall short of God’s word every day. I wouldn’t consider myself to be a bad person, but I am not perfect and do not pretend to be. I am eternally thankful that I have my faith to guide me through this crazy world we live in, without it I cannot image where I’d be. For a wonderful Christmas tradition to share with your family check out Ed Bolian of VinWiki’s video titled “The True Meaning Of Christmas From VinWiki” which can be found here: https://youtu.be/QZE3SU23vtE?si=MUfqcvKjgOslLmeN . This is a wonderfully produced narrative of the story of Christmas that I look forward to sharing with my family for many years to come as part of our Christmas tradition.
We here at 1i-rc.com would like to thank you one and all for your continued patronage. In the coming weeks we’ll have new product reviews, new projects as well as more of the same great news coverage that you’ve come to expect. From our family to your, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and until next time, be good to yourself, be good to others, be good to your RC.
