This week was another slow one in the world of RC news with new releases from JConcepts, RPM and Traxxas. While the news articles may not be plentiful the products are nothing short of drool worthy and will find their way onto many a holiday wish list. Read on to see what needs to be added to your shopping list this season!
JCONCEPTS
Being fans of the Team Associated RC10B7 we appreciate when companies release new parts that make this great car even better. When building ours we eschewed the o-ring battery straps in favor of a carbon fiber mount that utilizes a small movable finger to hold the shorty pack in place. JConcepts has released their own battery mount system that includes aluminum side plates that stiffen the chassis as well as movable battery hold down bars that can be adjusted for different height batteries via their mounting screws. This new mount is available in either blue or black to match the other accents in the chassis and features the signature JConcepts chamfered edge for style.

Also new from JConcepts is a new body for the vintage RC10 crowd known as the Protector, this time for the 1989 Stealth Car. This body is dripping with retro cool, from from its large window and rear biased cab to its “over-the-rear-tower” fitment, everything about this shell screams old-school cool. Included in teh bag are window masks, full-color decals, overspray film and a 5.5″ wide polycarbonate wing.

RPM R/C PRODUCTS
This one came out of nowhere but we are sure glad it did! RPM has released a new +2 Front Suspension Mount for the Redcat Lowriders. In stock form the front suspension of these models is fixed at -2 degrees while this new mount increases that a full 10 degrees to +8 degrees for that classic “all the way up” stance. Included in the package are both the suspension mount itself as well as a toe link that corrects the toe angle when changing the camber angle. RPM notes that this kit will fit the FiftyNine, SixtyThree, SixtyFour and SixtyFive models. Fitment to the Caprice Classic is extremely tight thanks to the CC”s narrowed body and use of this kit on that model is not recommended. Given that the Monte Carlo is a similar width to the Caprice one would assume that the kit is not recommended for that model either. Like all RPM products the +2 degree kit is proudly made in the USA and features a limited lifetime warranty.

TRAXXAS
Traxxas is really flushing out the mini market lately with the release of the Mini Maxx, Mini XRT and Mini Slash 4×4. Coming out of seemingly nowhere is their latest release, the Mini Rally VXL Ford RS200, this time based on the design architecture of the Mini Maxx and is sized to fit perfectly into a backpack for easy transport. Powering this little speed demon is the BL-2s brushless power system and an included 2s LiPO battery (with included charger), all of which spins a 1/10 spec drivetrain. The 2075X metal gear 1/10 servo provides the yank to the front wheels and new scale rally tires that feature internal ribbing instead of foam inserts for support. LED lights shine the way at the front of the officially licensed Ford RS200 rally body. A clipless body mount system ensures the classic lines of the fast Ford aren’t interrupted and make battery changes a snap.

PROJECT UPDATE
This week we also posted a How To article featuring inexpensive dampers from the far East and how to make them work. I want to thank Crawler Canyon for his inspiration in creating this article, his original videos are a great resource for crawler knowledge and he’s definitely deserving of a follow ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-N1j3WqtZVKTqALh3KHUaw/join }. These shocks are surprisingly bad out of the package; the seals leak more than they hold oil in, the bladders are just that in name only and the pistons require the use of 10,000wt diff oil to function properly. Utilizing $10 worth of Traxxas maintenance parts we show you how to fix these shocks, making them usable for a long life on the trail. We thank you again for your patronage. Your continued support of this site does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Until next week, please be good to yourself, be good to others and be good to your RC.
