Axial announced this morning the release of a new look for their SCX10iii platform in the shape of the Jeep Gladiator JT pickup. Building upon a stretched 10iii chassis, the Gladiator has more realistic proportions thanks to its 13.9″ wheelbase. The three piece body includes a detailed interior (a trimmed unit first seen on the 10iii JLU) plus a molded plastic expedition rack that bolts into the separately molded lexan bed.
Returning features include the AR45 portal axles, all-metal gear drivetrain, dig transmission with optional 2-speed (use of both requires a 4-channel radio, new ESC and 2 servos), detailed engine cover, transmission bellhousing and transfer case details, Nitto Trail Grappler tires on 3-piece beadlock wheels, and a complete Spektrum electronics package.
New to the 10iii platform are longer chassis rails (still 2 piece units with the rear section being extended), new battery mounts, new hard-anodized threaded body dampers, newly formulated plastics for improved durability and stiffness, updated rear body mount design, and molded inner fenders. For electronics, the Gladiator uses Spektrum’s Firma 40a esc/rx combo, DX3 3-channel DSMR transmitter, and a 15kg/cm waterproof analog servo. The SCX10iii Jeep Gladiator is available in two colors, Firecracker Red or Sting Grey.
